Coconization
Coconut shell is one of the common traditional materials in the tropics. It is the hard part of the coconut fruit that covers the coconut meat and the liquid. From the designer’s point of view, the shell’s surface has a nice texture with various grainy motifs. Traditionally, people used coconut shells for making bowls, cups, water scoops, spoons, and other kitchen utensils, or simply used as charcoal. Nowadays, these utensils that are made of coconut shells have gradually disappeared from daily use, having been replaced by new products that are mostly made of plastics.
